Gareth McConnell- Institutions

My tutor had used Gareth's work as an example in a tutorial, I was inspired by all of his work, but mostly his project Institutions, here are a few photos from this:

After looking at Gareth McConnell's website: http://www.garethmcconnell.com/ ,I then rented his book from the library as I wanted to know more about his work.

Quick insight: 

"Gareth McConnell's photography is characterised by his successive series of simple but highly eloquent portraits of outsider figures, survivors who have lived life to an extreme. Born in Northern Ireland, McConnell's own experience has been shaped by the violent tensions of that countries recent history and there is a strong autobiographical element in his work."

I love the way McConnell's work only uses natural light in these very dull and dark places.
